Last Friday a team of four enthusiastic golfers from Churches took to the fairways of the South Winchester Golf Club to help raise much needed funds for the Geoff Smith Foundation.
In aid of Multiple Sclerosis, this special event takes place every year and the organising team pull out all the stops to make sure the golfers had a fantastic day. With registration, coffee and bacon baps at 7.30am, through to the fun filled gala night, the day was jam packed with something for everyone.
Churches director Patrick Saddington said, “Glyn Mason from Associated British Ports asked us to make up a team of keen golfers for this charity event and we were thrilled to be able to do so. I can’t think of a more worthwhile cause and this was an especially good event because non golfers in the company could join us in the evening for the Gala at the Novotel Southampton. We all love live music and the comedian was brilliant.”
Of course you didn’t have to attend the golf day or wait for another event to support the Geoff Smith Foundation – it’s easy to donate online, just visit http://www.justgiving.com/tgff or click the ‘donate securely online’ button on the Geoff Smith Foundation website http://www.thegeoffsmithfoundation.co.uk/
Luckily for some there was more than one way to win on the day. There was of course the coveted Championship prize but also many companies and individuals attending sponsored or donated a fantastic rage of prizes. The team at Churches donated a specially engraved ipad mini which they hoped someone would really enjoy receiving, as a special memento of the day.
