Today, we celebrate the beauty of our planet and recognize the critical role each of us plays in protecting our environment. This year’s theme, “Solutions to Plastic Pollution,” is a powerful reminder of the urgent need to address one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.
Here are a few simple steps we can all take to make a difference:
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Be mindful of your plastic consumption. Opt for reusable products and ensure proper recycling.
- Support Eco-friendly Brands: Choose products and companies committed to sustainable practices.
- Participate in Clean-ups: Join or organize community clean-up events to help keep our environment clean.
- Educate and Advocate: Spread awareness about the impact of plastic pollution and advocate for policies that promote environmental sustainability.
Remember, every small action counts. Together, we can create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world for future generations.
Corrigenda holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (as well as ISO 45001), all of which are audited annually. We are committed to becoming a carbon-neutral business by 2035. To assist with our journey towards carbon neutrality we have adopted the following operational principles:
Localism:
- All our hand-held devices are 4G enabled allowing the engineers to have their job instructions sent directly to their handsets to minimise travel time and vehicle emissions.
- Parts used for jobs are ordered through the nearest approved local suppliers reduces times.
- Local offices allow for the minimisation of manager travel and allows for managers to work from the location which best suits their activities and the sites for which they are responsible reducing their travelling time.
Adopting a ‘reducing, reusing and recycling’ mindset:
- We have a target of recycling 85% of all recyclable materials, and segregate waste so this can be disposed of correctly including electrical waste which is broken into component parts for better recycling;
- We advise clients on the best choice of plant and equipment with our specialist knowledge which assists them on their own journey to carbon neutrality- plant such as heat pumps energy efficiency and recommending where insulation can assist with best outcomes.
Emissions reduction strategy:
- All managers’ vehicles are either fully electric or hybrid to minimise environmental impacts whilst travelling between sites. We have installed charging infrastructure at Corrigenda premises and employees homes at no costs to them.
- Corrigenda has invested in delivery vans for city travel and deliveries which are fully electric
- Telematics data from all van trackers is viewed centrally for managers to challenge harsh acceleration and braking which has led to a noticeable reduction in fuel use, excessive speeds and idling times.
- We use technology to facilitate online meetings, audits and thereby minimising unnecessary journeys.
