Project Manager – Decarbonisation Projects
Salary – £45,000 to £50,000, plus a potential to earn up to 20% of earnings in a bonus
12-month fixed term contract. Contract extension or permanent employment possibility after project completion
Location: Based on site in Surrey and in Projects office in Fareham, Hampshire.

We are in search of a seasoned Project Manager to lead and propel two noteworthy decarbonization projects within a prestigious university in Surrey. The ideal candidate will take charge of the comprehensive management, advancement, and scheduling of these initiatives, ensuring their alignment with sustainability objectives, adherence to budgetary constraints, and punctual completion.

Key Responsibilities Include
(but not limited to):

• Project Leadership: Take the lead in planning, executing, and successfully concluding two decarbonization projects within the university, providing clear direction and support to project teams.
• Strategic Planning: Formulate comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets that align with the university’s sustainability goals and regulatory standards.
• Stakeholder Management: Establish and nurture effective communication channels with key stakeholders, including university leadership, faculty, contractors, and external partners.
• Resource Allocation: Efficiently coordinate resources such as personnel, equipment, and materials to optimize project implementation while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them, minimizing disruptions and ensuring project success.
• Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor project advancement against set milestones, budgets, and timelines, promptly implementing corrective measures as required to maintain progress.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all project deliverables meet established quality benchmarks and comply with relevant regulations and industry best practices in decarbonization.
• Reporting and Documentation: Produce regular progress reports, presentations, and documentation for university leadership and stakeholders, showcasing achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
• Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership and mentorship to project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:
• Proven experience in project management, specifically managing complex initiatives related to sustainability, energy efficiency, or decarbonisation.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field
• Strong understanding of decarbonisation strategies, technologies, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field (desirable).
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) (desirable).
